Welcome!

I like board games. Probably my favourite board game is called Formula De. This game allows players to recreate Grand Prix events from around the world, in races of up to ten players. The thing is, I also love tournaments. The idea of a series of games, or races in this case, whereby you might not win each, but if you're consistently good, you can win the overall championship. I just find campaigns or championships of that nature to need more investment, and following, than individual games.

Now, it's hard enough getting people to your house to host a single games night, but getting ten people free at the same time? And then trying to get them to commit to over 30 races? Even if races were held just once a month, this would be a tall ask. Taller than I, and anyone I know, could handle. So in the end I figured I would run a virtual championship. Even then, if not done by mail/post, you would have to get everyone at a computer at the same time... And if doing games by post/email... well... 64 turns could take 6 months to run a race.

In the end, I figured I would just play a ten player championship on my own. I thought, why not attempt to animate the races... and then keep score and publish a site so people could keep track of things... I started recording every move, every dice roll, every position and then recreating the race again in ancient animation software, this was taking me 30-40 hours per race, but I figured it would be worth it for the spectacle. Unfortunately the videos were getting around a dozen views, which wasn't unusual, but one by one as I reached out to the 'players' it turned out they didn't have much interest either and if I couldn't even get the players interested, it didn't seem worth doing all that work.

But the itch keeps yearning to be scratched for a championship, so I'll try it again, just this time without the race animations. I'll be running 3 lap races, using mostly rules from the Formula De (2nd Edition) version of the game, and we'll track the results here.

If you're interested, here are videos for the first two races, I only got half way through the third race when I realised it was just me watching!
